Expeditions

In 2017 the JHF started with a so-called Expedition for young Dutch students from the Jewish community.

The purpose of this expedition is:

  • To engage the students in our work in Central- and Eastern Europe;

  • To get a better insight into the projects we support;

  • To promote interaction and exchange of ideas between Dutch Jewish students and youngsters from Central- and Eastern Europe.

(In 2020, 2021, and 2022, the expedition did not occur due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine.)

In 2019: Timor Faber visited projects in Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, and Hungary.

In 2018: Shany Azoulay visited projects in Serbia, Latvia, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Ukraine.

In 2017: Two students, Tessa Leviton and Elias Poolman visited summer camps that our fund supported in Bulgaria, Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine.

The students were very enthusiastic about the projects. Not only did they learn what the organizations do, they also made new friends and could use their knowledge for their benefit.
