Expeditions

In 2017, the JHF launched an initiative known as the "Expedition" for young Dutch students from the Jewish community.

Purpose of the expedition:

  • To engage the students in our work in Central and Eastern Europe.

  • To provide a deeper understanding of the projects we support.

  • To promote interaction and exchange of ideas between Dutch Jewish students and youngsters from Central- and Eastern Europe.

The expedition did not take place since 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine.

Past expeditions:

  • In 2019: Timor Faber visited projects in Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, and Hungary.
  • In 2018: Shany Azoulay visited projects in Serbia, Latvia, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Ukraine.
  • In 2017: Two students, Tessa Leviton and Elias Poolman visited summer camps supported by our fund in Bulgaria, Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine.

The students were highly enthusiastic about the projects they visited. Not only did they gain insight into the organizations' work, but they also made new friendships and were able to apply their newfound knowledge to their personal growth.
